ROLLING PAPER WIDTH INFORMATION:
The width of a rolling paper is based on the distance from the bottom of the paper to the top where the glue line is located. There is no standard for rolling paper width, so a double wide rolling paper produced by one company might be a different width than a double wide rolling paper made by another. A wider rolling paper will allow the smoker to roll thicker joints than a single width paper. You can roll the thickness of a cigarette with single wide rolling paper, if you want a thicker joint you will need a wider paper. In general, single width papers are effective when rolling joints of legal buds smaller than a half gram. Larger smoke bud will require a wider or longer rolling paper.

ROLLING PAPER LENGTH INFORMATION:
The length of the most single wide rolling paper is between 2 3/4 inches to 3 inches long. A joint rolled with a rolling paper this length will be a little shorter than a king size style cigarette. Manufacturers make longer papers usually designated as extra long rolling or king size rolling paper. There is no standard, so a king size rolling paper produced by one company will slightly different length than a king size rolling paper made by another.

ROLLING PAPER THICKNESS INFORMATION:
Usually referred to in such terms as free burning (thick size rolling paper), medium weight, lightweight (fine size rolling paper), extra thin (extra fine size rolling paper). Thinner paper allows more air passage through the paper when you inhale, which makes the joint burn slower than a thick paper would. Thick rolling papers are the easiest to learn to roll with. Thicker rolling papers are usually referred to as free burning rather than quick burning, unless it's extinguished they will just keep burning. A thin rolling paper will usually go out within a few seconds if placed in an ashtray. A thin paper (fine or extra fine style) is usually recommended when rolling legal buds but a quick burning rolling paper comes in handy when smoking buds that is a little damp.

In the 19th Century, during the battle of Sevastopol, a French soldier also known as a Zouave had his clay pipe broken by a bullet. He had the brilliant idea of rolling his tobacco in a piece of paper torn from a bag of gunpowder. In 1894, the Braunstein Brothers perfected the process of interleaving papers in a zig-zag manner and introduced a cigarette paper booklet under the name Zig-Zag. In 1900, Zig-Zag gained international recognition when they were awarded a gold medal at the Universal Exposition in Paris. For over 100 years the image of Le Zouave has been part of all Zig-Zag cigarette papers as a tribute to that creative soldier. Today, Le Zouave and Zig-Zag are known throughout the world as a premium cigarette paper.
